On the morning of June 29, 2026<\/strong>, the Faculty of Information Security<\/strong>, Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology (NEW8808), officially launched the course “Applied AI and Machine Learning for Network and Information Security”<\/strong> for students enrolled in the Talent Program.<\/p>\n

The course is delivered by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Igor Ushakov<\/strong>, Associate Professor and Deputy Head of the Department of Information Security of Computer Networks at The Bonch-Bruevich Saint Petersburg State University of Telecommunications (SPbSUT), Russian Federation<\/strong>. With extensive experience in information security, cybersecurity, and the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to network protection, Dr. Ushakov has been actively involved in teaching, research, and international projects in the field of cybersecurity. He also holds numerous professional certifications from Cisco, Microsoft, and VMware.<\/p>\n

Running from June 29 to July 3, 2026<\/strong>, the course combines theoretical lectures with hands-on laboratory sessions, providing students with up-to-date knowledge and practical skills in applying Artificial Intelligence (AI)<\/strong> and Machine Learning (ML)<\/strong> to information security.<\/p>\n

During the first session, students were introduced to the fundamentals of Network Security<\/strong> and explored the role of AI and Machine Learning in detecting, analyzing, and mitigating cyber threats. They also participated in Lab 1: Security Data Collection & Exploration<\/strong>, where they gained initial experience in collecting, processing, and exploring security-related data for cybersecurity applications.<\/p>\n

According to the course schedule, students will continue studying advanced topics, including network attacks and defensive technologies<\/strong>, advanced network and cloud security<\/strong>, AI-assisted network security<\/strong>, and machine learning-based network traffic anomaly detection<\/strong>. The program will conclude with a special talk on July 4, 2026<\/strong>, offering participants an opportunity to engage in discussions with the expert on emerging trends and real-world applications of AI in cybersecurity.<\/p>\n

Through this course, the Faculty of Information Security aims to provide students with access to cutting-edge technologies, strengthen the connection between academic knowledge and practical applications, and enhance their research and professional competencies in the field of information security.<\/p>\n
